According to God, Since Day 1 of creation; Measurements did matter. There was a measured period of darkness and a measured period of light. A measured space for waters and a measured open space for the heavens Genesis 1:6 Let there be an open space (called the haven) between the waters. Let it divide waters from waters. God made the open space, and divided the waters under the open space from the waters above the open space. And it was so. 8 Then God called the open space Heaven.
Vs 14. Let there be lights in the open space of the heavens to divide day from night. Let them tell the days and years and times of the year. 15 Let them be lights in the open space of the heavens to give light on the earth. And it was so. 16 Then God made the two great lights, the brighter light to rule the day, and the smaller light to rule the night. He made the stars also. Here the brighter light (A measurement) was divided form the smaller light (A measurement) each, 18 to rule the day and the night. Most of all in vs 18 this signifies that to divide, there had to be a benchmark to demarcate, A divine divider, “The measuring Line of God”; He divided the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. When God uses his benchmark “The measuring Line”, it clearly differentiates and distinguishes two different entities, truth and False, Good and bad, right and wrong, big and small. This could happen only because he had a measuring line –His justice, which he used to measure things and the plumb line-His righteousness which he used to check the integrity of things. .
A measuring line always brings forth discipline. It is also used translated as a measuring rod, which sets a defined length, width, breath and weight. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Job 38:7
Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. Isaiah 48:13
His will to set the measurements for the Heavens and the earth were by his Divine Counsel. Ephesians 1:11…”according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will”. We need to understand that he has a Divine counsel to his will. Jeremiah 31:37 Thus says the LORD, “If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out below, Then I will also cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done,” declares the LORD.
His mark and measurements for the waters and the expanse were spot on!! Proverbs 8:29: When He set for the sea its boundary So that the water would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth; When he does the measurements, it is established forever. Psalm 104:5 He established the earth upon its foundations, so that it will not totter forever and ever. When he stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations, it was all about using His Measuring Line of Justice and righteousness.!! Through Wisdom he executed Righteousness and Justice.
